Family Visit

Last week, we had a wonderful time when our family came to visit all the way from Texas!! Mom (Grammy), Aunt Nancy, Aunt Cindy, and Grandma took a road trip and stayed with us for a few days. We had a wonderful time, but it is just never quite long enough. We shopped, visited, and just had a nice time together.

The first order of business once Grammy arrived - STORY TIME! Barrett's favorite activity is reading, so it was only fitting that he got a special story from Grammy as soon as she got here.

Friday night, we went downtown for Music on the Square and some ice cream. It is such a fun activity that the Town of Jonesborough puts on for free each Friday during the summer. Everyone had a great time - even Barrett!

A decent goodbye picture - no real tears...yet

Leaving town. The worst part. :(

Hmmm, I think I will just go to Texas too!!

Bye bye!!

Mom, Aunt Cindy, Aunt Nance, and Gma - thank you so much for coming to visit us in Tennessee. We can't tell you how much your sweet visit meant to us. They are never quite long enough, but we realize just how blessed we are. We can't wait to see you again - you'uns come back soon!!

July

July was another fun month!! Barrett has been on the move now more than ever, so we are trying to soak up all of the little moments together while we can. We had tons of fun in July. We celebrated July 4th with the Jonesborough parade and a cookout with some of our wonderful friends - the Moss family and the Kendricks. Barrett had a great time playing with Ellie Moss and the Kendrick pups - Emma and Whitley.

Ryan and I celebrated our 7th anniversary!! Yeah!! We had a family date and went to dinner at Carabba's. Barrett was a trooper and did a great job on our little "date." It is hard to believe that we are already celebrating seven years. Time sure flies when you are having fun!

July also marked the start of Ryan's fourth year of residency. We are SO excited. This journey is now officially on the downhill slide. We aren't quite sure what will come next but are thankful for the wonderful times that we have had so far.

What a fast month! Whew!

June

June was a busy month for Barrett - with lots of growing and new changes!! In June, Barrett experienced his first tooth, his second tooth - both bottom incisors, and started crawling AND pulling up!! Mom was not quite ready for any of these changes. I kept saying to myself, "I thought we had more time!!" It turns out that life moves faster than you want it to sometimes, so you only have the option to go with it or get left behind!!

We also gained a new friend in June - John Michael McDonald!! Auntie Adrienne, Brent, and Arian came to visit us and Barrett had his first stay with our babysitter Miss Amanda while I worked and Ryan was on call. Amanda came back to babysit the next weekend while we went to Resident Graduation and we also found out that Aunt Nancy was engaged!!! We are so excited to welcome Dustin to the family next summer!!

Here are a few fun pictures to show you some of our memories.

May

Let's just take a few minutes and recap the last few months. We'll start with May, since that was where most of the excitement began. In May, we took our first full family trip to Texas and Oklahoma to visit everyone!! We got to see most all of our favorite friends (minus Auntie Abbey, Jason, and Emma - but we'll catch you all next time) and had Barrett's Baby Dedication at God's House in Atoka. Here are some shots of our fun trip!!

Barrett also had a few firsts this month - he started eating solid foods! Avocado was his first adventure into the world of real food and he seemed to like it. I had planned to make his baby food from scratch, but time just didn't allow for that little adventure!
